The Seven stages of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to occur between April 19 and June 1. Several political parties have released their lists of candidates as they compete in the biggest democratic process in history. Why did the elections get postponed until June?

Phased schedule for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections
Eighteenth general elections are scheduled to occur in seven stages. While 89 constituencies hold votes in two stages, 102 seats will be up for election in the first phase. The following phases will see polling in the following seats: 94, 96, 49, 57, and 57, in that order.
First Phase
First phase nominations will be completed on March 27 and the event will take place on April 19. In this election phase, there are 21 states and union territories.
Second Phase
The elections’ second phase will take place on April 26 due to the deadline for nominations being April 4. This round of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections includes 12 states and union territories.
Third Phase
On April 20, the elections will enter their third phase. On May 7, there will be nominations for this phase. Twelve states and union territories are involved in the nomination process.
Fourth Phase
Since the nomination period ends on April 25, the elections will proceed to a fourth phase on May 13. The union territories and the ten states are included in this period.
Fifth Phase
Stage Five On May 3, nominations will be accepted for this stage. The eight states and union territories will participate in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024 on May 20.
Sixth Phase
Stage Six On May 25, elections in seven states and Union territory will take place in the sixth phase. The deadline for nominations for this stage is May 6.
Seventh Phase
Stage 7 Due to the eight states and the UT nomination deadline of May 14, the seventh round of elections is scheduled for June 1.

How to vote
As per Election Commission of India, Only if your name is on the Voter List (also called the Electoral Roll) are you eligible to cast a ballot. Additionally, polling booths, opposing candidates, election dates and times, identity cards, and electronic voting machines are available to voters.
How can I cast my vote in person?
The first voting official will verify your identification and look up your name on the voter list.
A second poll worker will sign a register, ink your finger, and provide you with a slip (Form 17A)
You must reveal your tattooed finger to the third poll worker and deposit the slip before you can enter the voting booth.
On the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM), choose the ballot button that is next to the symbol of the candidate you want to vote for. A beep will sound.
Examine the slip that displays in the VVPAT machine’s clear window. The slip with the name, symbol, and candidate serial number must be visible for seven seconds before it falls into the sealed VVPAT box.
The final button on the EVM is NOTA, or None of the Above, which you can click if you don’t like any of the candidates.
